Originally introduced in 1998, the Dodge Durango was the first mid-size SUV to offer third row seating. Taking the place of the Ramcharger, the Durango offered a spacious interior, powerful drivetrain and remarkable off-road capabilities, and was one of Dodge most popular vehicles. Redesigned in 2005, the Durango grew considerably to compete with full-size SUVs. In addition a HEMI® V-8 with cylinder deactivation, the Durango is now available with a two-mode hybrid drivetrain to further increase fuel economy numbers. The Dodge Durango comes with a lifetime powertrain warranty and gets an estimated 17-19 mpg on the highway.
